4Why do I need to Kiln Dry my wood?

It’s a simple, yet complicated answer, the simple answer is if you are using wood for ANY interior project, it should be dried to a minimum of 10% moisture. IF not, your wood is suspectable to the following

  • Cracking -After the wood is introduced to an indoor environment, and the indoor moisture generated by your HVAC system will reintroduce moisture into the wood, this can result in cracking, splitting, warping and more.
  • Pest and Micro organisms- Let’s face it, when we take down a tree, we are taking down a insect’s domain, no tree ever comes to use bug free. Our IDRY Plus using two methods , simultaneously to eliminate this problem. We use heat ( temps above 159 degrees) to destroy live insects and their eggs, and our vacuum kiln suffocates them.
